Louise, this is you at your very best, the elegant poetry that holds worlds of meaning, a few lines you can inhabit for days and still be finding something new. Never met you across the Bay but I send love and light my candle for you each. So blessed I feel to witness your journey. Judy Luce
I'm terrible at understanding poems, so sorry if I missed the interpretation of your poem by a mile. I think your poem is about appreciating life, given how temporary and fragile it can be.
I'm having a wonderful week in NY and actually have to extend my stay by another week. I have been having fun with my friends, Anucha and Spring, and getting approval for her women's, minority, and neurodiverse life/career development app for Columbia.
We received the first level of approval to start a pilot for students and their associated advisors, with a full rollout in January, hopefully - fingers crossed.
Anucha and Spring kept joking about my J Boogie days. But I enjoy remembering J Boogie and dancing to songs like “I Love the Nightlife” by Alicia Bridges. I started playing it quite a bit during my walks with Franco, my Siberian Husky son.
My father was very abusive, and I would find solace and joy dancing by myself and with the dance floor crowd, enjoying this music at Studio 54, Xenon... I would be alive from midnight to early morning - "just going where the people danced and just wanting to live."
I was laughing with Anucha and Spring. I told them I went from being J Boogie to now being Mister Rogers : ). I kind of liked the transformation to Mister Rogers and didn't even realize I was starting to wear his outfits to meetings: white shirts, sweaters, and sneakers : )
FYI, I really love your website and my category, "Poised Builder." I think the narrative of this worldview defines me, except for the word "poised." I don't think I've ever been called poised : ) I really hope you continue building on your concept. I believe it has tremendous potential!
Anyway, yes, life is to be cherished every day, every hour, every minute, and every second. But "the other side" is even more beautiful/amazing and should never be feared. Just one human opinion, but I think I got this "other side" perspective from a reliable source : )
Hope you continue to enjoy every moment. I'm Irish, and my mom was a big Mickey Mantle fan. Whether I call you Wonder Woman or Mickey Mantle, you have so much to offer the world. I would love to see you in all your awesomeness when you're ready. But your journey is to be cherished no matter what direction you go in!
Sending as much positive energy as I possibly can. J Boogie or Mister Rogers : )
Hi, my soul sister, thank you soooo much for the namaste sign. It made me smile, and I hope you know how much it meant to me : )
I’m not sure whether you wrote it or were just highlighting it, but I loved the quote about living an enchanted life. I believe in magic. I see it around me every day, and I believe we can change the world exponentially if we make an effort to share our magic with people who need it or need to see that it exists.
I’m also coming to the conclusion that I never really reach closure, crazy me : ) When I saw your message, I went back to when I first met you. Of course, you were physically beautiful, but that’s not what made you so special. Your sweetness, kindness, and sensitivity (like sending the namaste sign to someone like me) make you beyond beautiful – because your beauty is way beyond the surface level. You have deep beauty!
K, I’m very tired, but I had a wonderful week. It’s kind of funny. People like my ex-wife think I’m autistic Forrest Gump. Many now see me as Mister Rogers : ) But I think the real me and the best me have always been J Boogie : ) J Boogie was just a kid with a child’s spirit - truly free, lived for and cherished every second, dancing the night away with no motivation other than to smile, enjoy the music, the environment, and yes, even the Long Island iced teas : )
So, have a magical weekend! Sending you as much energy as this tired soul can muster. Stay cool. J Boogie
A simple and meaningful poem. Ordinary moments become extraordinary once we realize they are temporary. And sometimes wisdom comes when we stop looking only at ourselves “in the mirror” and begin seeing life from a deeper perspective.
beautiful. is that a photo?
It is, but I’m thinking of painting something similar once I get out of my current odd creative rabbit hole of burning trees on plywood 😅..
I've been working with paint-by-numbers (I don't trust myself just yet) and thought that would be a great one.
Unfortunately AI messed up the numbers but…

How cool that we are alive in a time when this is possible!
that's wild!

I love that interpretation!
